Dr. Steven L. Smith – Hickory Chiropractor
Dr. Steven L. Smith is originally from Michigan. He attended Michigan State University for his undergraduate studies. Dr. Smith received his Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) Magna Cum Laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1993. Dr. Smith has maintained a solo practice in Hickory since 1994. His primary focus is on family care with an emphasis on wellness.
Dr. Smith states,
“My experience in chiropractic, like many of my colleagues, started first as a patient. While attending undergraduate school I was in a severe car accident that left me with serious headaches and neck pain. I first tried traditional medical care because it was all I knew to treat the problem. With conventional medicine I found myself taking strong prescription drugs to ease the pain, but it didn’t do anything to help my headaches after the medication wore off. By fate I was told to go see a chiropractic doctor. Upon my initial examination I knew something was different! The doctor told me the headaches where not the cause, but an effect of the underlying problem. It was then that I realized the drugs where only masking my symptoms not treating them. I had subluxation in my spine! This caused nerve interference, thus resulting in headaches. Within a short time of starting my chiropractic treatment I was amazed by the results. Not just my headaches, but my whole body felt better. It was at that point that I decided to switch my studies in engineering to become a doctor of chiropractic.”
Dr. Smith resides in Hickory with his wife Jennifer, and their five children. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his kids, hiking, playing basketball, and hanging out with his family and friends on Lake James.
